I'm a Mouse-Potato!

While playing on the computer tonight, Matthew came down to say good-night. He sat down next to me and with a real straight, serious face said "Mommy, you're a mouse-potato." Having never heard this term before, but knowing exactly what it meant, I laughed and asked where he had learned it. Again, with a very serious face, he said "It's an idiom. I learned it in literacy group at school." He cracks me up. I am a mouse-potato!

I HEART Scrapbooking!

I love Sacrapbooking! It is my thing. I starting doing it long before Bill and the kids came into my life. I have old (really bad) scrapbooks of my school years and beyond. I save everything - and I mean EVERYTHING! My house is not like those shows Oprah does with rooms piled with junk to the ceiling. But, anything with some sort of a memory attached that is somewhat flat enough to be in a book is kept - movie stubs, plane tickets, show booklets, hair ribbons, buttons from a favorite outfit, silk flowers, sand from the beach... You name it. Scrapbooking has become my therapy. My scrap space is where I retreat to when I need a few minutes alone. When I am angry, I scrapbook. It always puts a smile on my face. There is nothing like looking at pictures of happy people I love doing the things they love. I have pride in each and every page I do. Come look through my books - I am always happy to show them off. I am very detail oriented, and have fallen years and years behind. But I am confident that someday I will catch up. A birth certificate shows you were born, a death certificate shows that you died, but a scrapbook shows that you lived. I look forward to passing my works of art onto my own children in hopes that they will cherish them as much as I do.

Making THE Car

Matthew loves being in Cub Scouts! One of his favorite parts is the pinewood derby race. With the race quickly approaching, Matthew has been getting his car ready. This is a big year for Matthew. He is the reigning champ from last year. Not only did last years car win first place in his division, it also won first overall as well as winning against the no weight class of adults. However, this year since he is a Weeblo, he is not supposed to get any help making his car. Yes, he has guidance when it comes to the power tools, but he really is on his own. He has read the books and put lots of thought into this race. He came up with a design that should have little or no wind resistance. He has polished the axles and wheels. And, his theme of Sharks Hockey is sure to be bright and fast looking. Now we wait - two more weeks until the big day. To be continued...
